Barbara Ann Savage, 79, of Newport News, Virginia, left behind her earthly body, surrounded by her three daughters on December 14, 2021.A longtime resident of Newport News, Barbara graduated from Warwick High School. She went on to become a secretary for her husband’s company, Bob’s Electric, for many years. After that, she enjoyed working at Sam’s Club, where she made a few dear friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Smith; her brother, Cecil “Jimmy” Burnette III; her parents, Cecil Burnette Jr. and Thelma and her husband, Robert Savage.
She will live on in the memories of many beloved family members, including her brother, David “Bubba” Burnette and his wife, Linda and their family; her sister, Brenda Joyner and her husband, Jack and their family; her daughters, Cindy Summerfield, Robin Rhodes and her husband, James, Rhonda Luck and her husband, Raymond as well as five grandchildren, Michael Smith and his wife, Abigail, Michelle Smith and her, husband Christopher, Elizabeth Ryan and her husband, Lacy, Amy Summerfield, and Lee Ann Summerfield; and eleven great grandchildren, Samuel Smith, Cady Smith, Nicole Summerfield, Alexander Smith, Isabella Ryan, Andrew Ryan, Andrew Smith, Laura Smith, Mary Collins Smith, Robert Ryan, and Parker Smith.
Barbara’s daughters would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Charles Lee Ginsburgh and staff, Amedisys and Heartland Hospice for all their support and care. They would also like to thank Weymouth Funeral Home for their help in making final arrangements.
A Celebration of Life Service, officiated by brother-in-law, Jack Joyner with music by Chris Joyner and Doug Scott will be held at 11:00 am on Friday December 17, 2021 at Warwick Assembly of God, 1228 Todd’s Lane, Hampton, VA 23666.
