Ancil Edward “Eddie” Corbitt, 85, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov 22, 2017. He was born in Atkinson, G.A., to the late Isaac and Missouri Corbitt. Eddie was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy and served four years in defense of our Nation aboard the U.S.S. Randall during the Korean Conflict.

Additionally, Eddie was extremely proud of his nearly 30 years of service as a Waterworks Engineer Specialist with the City of Newport News and garnered numerous awards and accolades during his time there. He retired from the Waterworks in 1988.

Most importantly, he was a kind and gentle soul who epitomized the spirit of a true “Southern Gentleman” and was at his happiest whenever he was surrounded by his family.

Eddie was preceded in death by the love of his life Peggy, who he’s now reunited with in Heaven, and his son, Ancil E. Corbitt Jr.

Eddie leaves to cherish his memories his three beautiful daughters, Cindy Adamson (Chad) of New Kent; Angie Kennedy (Frank) of Newport News; and Allison Corbitt Ballard (Dave) of Gloucester. He’s also survived by seven grandchildren, David, Steven, Rachel, Ryan, Samantha, Seth and Sarah; and five great grandchildren, David Jr., Rosemary, Emily Lindsey, Emily Grace, and Jackson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at Weymouth Funeral Home. Interment will follow immediately in Peninsula Memorial Park.

Rest in peace Dad/“Paw Paw”, you will be missed dearly by all of those that love you.
