Alba L. Echavarria, 69, died Monday, February 14, 2022 in her apartment in Newport News, Virginia. She was born and raised in Pereira, Colombia, South America. She had been a resident of the United States for 48 years, including her final year in Newport News. She spent most of her career caring for others as a Home Health Aide.
Alba’s passion was her faith. She was very involved with her church, their events and the many friends she made there.
She is survived by her mother, Otilia R. Echavarria; her son, Carlos A. Calderón; two daughters, Claudia M. Calderón-Finkle and Mayra A. Rivera; her sister, Martha E. Echavarria. She’s also survived by six grandchildren – Jaden, Aaliyah, Kacie, Ruben, Noah and Nalani.
A Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Weymouth Funeral Home, Newport News, VA. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 p.m.
