Willie Ora Powell Lucado, 92, of Newport News passed away on Friday December 17, 2021. She was a loving, caring, selfless wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the wife of the late Robert M. Lucado and was preceded in death by her brother, Vernard E Powell Jr.; sister, Doris Powell and beloved son, Robert Dale Lucado.
Born in Lynchburg, VA, Willie was the daughter of the late Vernard E Powell Sr. and Thelma Dawson Powell. Willie was a seamstress by trade and retired in 1983 from Gloria Manufacturing to be a fulltime caregiver to her son, Dale whom she devoted 38 years to.
She is survived by her brother, Ray Powell; sister, Francis Jones and her three daughters, Gail Lucado-Phelps, Donna Lucado Dudley (George) and Pamela Lucado Phaup. She was a warm and loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren Roberta (Rob), Ardith (Andy), Jeremy, Josh, Ryan, Courtney (Randy) and Erin(Ward) and great-grandmother of 8.
The family will receive family and friends at the home of Donna and George Dudley after the services as well.
