On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, with dignity and grace Margaret Rose Johnson Chever (known as “Sis”) received her wings and departed to be with her Lord. Margaret Rose J. Chever was born in Newark, NJ  to her parents, Lafayette Johnson and Margaret Thomas Tynes. 

She is survived by two sisters, Zenovia Kelley (Millsboro, DE) and Dorothy Carter (Bloomfield, CT), and one brother, Charles Johnson (Charlene) (Hampton, VA). She has 5 children: Ores Chever Jr. (Auburndale, FL), Darryl Chever Sr. (Venita) (Newport News, VA), James Chever (Newport News, VA),Cheryl Chever (Hartford, CT), and Fern Chever (Newport News, VA).

Margaret Rose J. Chever’s journey throughout life took her to New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Virginia. She was a proud graduate of Huntington High School in Hampton, VA. She married Ores Chever Sr. (deceased) in New York. She was  a Certified Caregiver at Willowbrook State Farm (Staten Island). 

Margaret Rose J. Chever lived a full life and cherished her time as a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and foster mother. She moved to Hartford, CT where she worked for the public school system and later retired after 20 years of service. 

For over 50 years in Hartford, CT she was a devout Christian and a dedicated member of North United Methodist Church, with her great friend and neighbor Mrs. Audrey Brown. Together they volunteered and served on many different programs including the Youth Care, Library Services and Food Pantry.

Margaret Rose J. Chever is loved and will be missed by her 5 children, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 4 nephews, 7 nieces and a multitude of friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.

The family would like to express many thanks for sympathy, condolences, and prayer. 

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2024 at Weymouth Funeral Home with visitation to follow.
