The Family Plans To Host A Celebration of Life At A Later Date

Sandra Kay Lee “Sandy” Costello, 76, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023. Sandy was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. She grew up in a military family and they moved several times before settling in Newport News VA. She attended Ferguson High School and retired from Newport News Shipbuilding in 2012 as a Senior Purchasing Agent.

Sandy was a beloved wife, mother, grammy, sister and friend who will be greatly missed. She was a beautiful, outgoing, generous and caring person who never met a stranger. She was a great protector of her family and friends and was truly a force of nature!

Sandy enjoyed quilting, NASCAR, her Cocker Spaniel fur babies, her bright red Camaro (my red jet, as she called it), and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Evans Lee and Hinera Kelly Lee Knapp, and her brother, David K. Lee. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jerry L. Costello of Smithfield; brothers, Robert W. Lee and Andrew Lee; sons, Don Costello (Mary Ellen) of Glen Allen VA, Brian Costello (Laura) of Texas and Adam Costello (Laurie) of Midlothian VA; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Sandy’s wish was that there be no memorial service. The family plans to host a celebration of life at a later date. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.

I love you Sandy and will miss you so much. I enjoyed knowing Sandy since 1981 when she was a Sales Rep. She is my kindered spirit as she always referred with a hug and laugh.
